After the initial week of warring in the league with plenty of blowouts to boot, victorious teams looked to position themselves to be just one win away from qualifying to the playoffs, and losing teams looked to rebound to an even record. Unfortunately, RS would forfeit their matchup against the defending champions FxT, meaning that the champions automatically won and were now a win away from returning to the postseason.
TGC would almost immediately follow-up their narrow loss from the week prior by meeting KND in the first match of week 2, and they were dangerously close to blowing a big lead once again. Up 23 at the half, they proceeded to blow the next three to find themselves down 8 with only two races to go. It'd be kakarottu (54 points) and ClimaxTotal (51 points) clinching podiums for TGC when they needed it most, surviving the scare and winning the war by 12. Still, the young KND team should be commended for their efforts, including the crown of the war for KevinBG (56 points) and an impressive showing from Meliodas (53 points). Unfortunately, this meant KND had now fallen into an 0-2 hole in the league, dancing with disaster in the form of early elimination.
Another pair of week 1 teams who were on the losing end of things met next, as SIX won all but two races against CG to come out on top by 32 points. Kaizoku and Miniwaifu dominated with 69 and 67 points each, overshadowing CG MVP Residentes, who had 60 points of his own. Week 1 CG star Jyabura9 was kept to 39 points as SIX deployed a lineup more focused on item play this time around, and as such were able to tie their overall league score with a very impressive win.
After two close matches to start the week, many expected the oft-exciting Rc vs. VE showdown to follow the same mold. It was not meant to be. VE were marred by controller issues from TheTelloX and could never get things going from the getgo, losing every race in the war as Rc plowed through them for a 96 point rout. FGTurismo21 matched the Rc league high from the previous week with 75 points to earn crown honors, followed by 64 from Megumi. Xerdzio and Rogomezto scored 41 and 40 to lead VE. VE looked to salvage things late with VE_JanneAhonen joining the fold, but it was too little, too late. Still, at a 1-1 standing in the league, there was enough time remaining that VE could take this loss in the chest and come back stronger on a pivotal week 3.
GSC would continue their winning ways against VC with a 44 point victory. Revvylo and Karma would again score 60+ each, the englishman leading the charge with 69. Pedro/KuroJet (as an unit) and Akeno all scored over 50 for VC, but they could seldom do anything to recover from losing the first 6 races of the war.
RR and RE both looked to have strong responses to their 100+ point blowout losses from the first week, and it'd be the arabs with the quick and strong start who would take the win home with a 48 point victory over the italians. A new addition to the Rangers lineup in Aloot went for 69 points, followed by Realstics with 58 to lead the way. Livetime, Piof and Fef all tied with 47 points apiece. It was a closer loss to be sure after the week 1 embarassment, but time was narrowing down for the Rippers to make a recovery in the standings.
Speaking of strong starts, RNG would plow through their first 6 races against M1ST in only their second match together to win by 54 points. The entire lineup of Devil_Trigger, Janks, Chereti and Prom0 scored over 50 in an all-around show of excellence, led by 66 from Devil_Trigger. The unit of AbyssShriek/SSManakete scored 53 as a whole to help make things a little closer in the waning races of the war, followed by 48 from previous week MVP MyAle. Regaining 33 points in three of the final four races, M1ST showed for a fleeting moment that they can make things happen against any team in the league, and they'd seek to follow that speck of momentum and get on the win column the following week. Or else, they'd face an unceremonious early elimination from the league.
GZ would defeat the FxT B-Team by 30 points, led by a strong 61 points from Archer and 58 from oVo_WesT, unquestionably one of their most dangerous duos in terms of speed and item play prowess. AeonCayman/Atomic-San (as an unit) scored 53 for FxT to lead them.
And that was your recap for the initial two weeks of the Competitive Hub 4v4 League Season 3! Join us at the conclusion of Week 3 to see how the playoff brackets will start to shape up with four teams set for early clinching with a win (FxT, GSC, Rc, GZ) and four teams facing elimination with a loss (M1ST, CG, KND, RR).
