The 4v4 league has become one of the longstanding traditions of the competitive hub since its inception in May of 2021. Though the number of teams competing has certainly dwindled since the first season, the level of competition has never been higher as it currently stands. To quickly recall the conclusions of the first two seasons, Regicide (Rc) and FBIxTNT (FxT) were crowned champions respectively, with FxT decisively conquering the reigning champions in the season 2 finale as the torch was passed. Both former champions are now back and ready for more in season 3, alongside always dangerous contenders such as the Granny Swimming Club (GSC), Godzes, Velo's Champions (VC) and many more. Now, join us as we go on a journey through the events of the first two weeks of the league, that have been quite eventful to say the least. The first ever match-up of the third season began with a 94 point blowout courtesy of GSC against the young Kids Next Door (KND) clan. Karma and Revvylo both shined for the grannies with over 60 points each, Karma crowning the war with the always desirable score of 69. On KND's side, DangMor was the MVP with 43 points. KND hung around for the first half and were only down 20 after 4, but could never get a rhythm going and unfortunately dug themselves in a hole heading into the second week. For GSC, a strong showing as they figure to be positioned as favorites to take the whole competition. Next, the reigning champions FxT (their A-team) stomped the arab clan RE (Rangers) even further by a whopping 114 points. They impressively only allowed the Rangers to finish in first place once throughout the entire war, capping their dominance off by having 80 points from the MVP of the match Santy, who finished in the podium for 8 out of 10 races. Shadow had a strong showing for the Rangers with a team high 50 points, but none of his teammates could follow his lead as they were blown out of the gates by the champions, who sought to set the precedent for things to come as they enter their title defense. In a slightly less lopsided matchup, the FxT B-Team conquered the thrown together team of RNG (The Renegades) in a 63 point win. 45 points from San_Shio and MC_Prom0 couldn't stop Awesome-Niight from breaking their backs with 79 points, barely off of his clanmate Santy's weekly high. The war was close for the first three races with only a 10 point deficit for RNG, but they fell off the rails in the second half with their inherent disadvantage of being the only team in the league with no prior experience playing together. Season 1 champions Regicide (Rc) had their time to shine next against Crazy Geniuses (CG) who brought out their big guns in the form of their most potent lineup to meet their match. Jyabura9 scored 53 to lead the underdogs, however they'd fall in a major hole immediately after the first three races by going down 37. Not even a top 3 on Roo's Tubes was able to change the course of this war, or a disconnection from Dongitos for the final two races. Rc were at the top of their game even with that crutch, including 75 points from team captain Megumi; this all led to the thus far closest, yet still strong final point differential so far of 58 in the former champions' favor. An impressive comeback from Van Eltia (VE) over SIX was next, as they turned a 14 point deficit into a 40 point win. MGowther (66 points) and Xerdzio (62 points) led the former tournament finalists to this turnaround, their strong second half undoing the efforts of Shroob (47 points) and Miniwaifu (46 points). GZ (Godzes, 666cc) took on M1ST (MYSTER1OUS) next in a match perceived by many as a clear mismatch, but a surprise top 4 from M1ST on Inferno Island made the loss a lot more bearable in comparison to the week 1 bludgeonings at 32 points. Troyer (58 points) and bangang (55 points) led the way for one of the strongest lineups of 666cc, and MyAle (51 points) fought bravely for M1ST as their leading scorer. It was back to blowout city as Ragnarok Squad (RS) smoked Ripper Rootti (RR) by 104 points, led by 75 points from KirbyAmazing and 66 from Shotzzy. Sanjista was the only one to score 40 for the mainstay Italian clan, as even the late substitution for Piof did not do much to help matters. In by far the closest match of the entire week, Velo's Champions (VC) outscored The Gentlemen's Club (TGC) by 18 points for the final three races of an otherwise narrow war to win by 15. It was also a closely contested matchup for the crown, as VC_Rare (67 points) escaped with the honors in the final track over Chewy_BozZii (64 points), both players showing up when their teams needed them. A missed opportunity for TGC as they held the lead late and even before the final track only trailed by 4, and they hoped not to let opportunity slip off of their fingers again the following week. Thank you for joining us in the weekly league recap, we will have the week 2 recap up and running soon!
